Capabilities - Food Safety

Food Safety

Quality is something we do not question. We have been promoting Quality & Food Safety for many years in our strategic annual program in which KPIs related to quality are key factors in our management and factory evaluation.

We take pride in our very low customer complaint rate! We think that high-performance level results, with some plants achieving 0 customer complaints for several years in a row, is a pretty nice score.

Additionally, internal auditing & alignment programs are necessary requirements for all our operations. Ensuring that all of our plants meet a certain level of quality is crucial. Several of our plants have received customer recognition for being the best supplier.

In order to follow regulations, achieve great results, and maintain a proactive attitude towards quality, we have on-line systems which capture changes and help us to predict any possible defects. 3rd party certifications are also mandatory for Quality (ISO 9001) and Food Safety (FSSC 22000 – recognized by GFSI association as similar to BRC, IFS or others).

Food Safety

We are responsible for developing safe packaging. The consumers, distributors, and retailers of our customer products have expectations when they buy food. One key expectation is for the food to be safe.

We comply with all safety regulations, applying them at several stages:

  • Product Development Stage: Our conception department determines specific adjustments to be made, such as an oxygen protection layer, protecting food and increasing its shelf life, so that your food always tastes fresh! Another example is the development of specific shapes for bottles which protects babies from being hurt.
  • The Material Selection Process is another important aspect of remaining compliant with safety regulations. An example is the absence of BPA in our products.
  • The Operational Planning Stage ensures that we encounter no food, operational, or production issue, and that we meet food safety compliance requirements.

Maintaining a controlled operation during initial product conception is key to keeping products safe, and this is why we developed risk-assessment HACCP programs. We maintain a high standard of food safety, looking to exceed both our customers' expectations and the industry standards. To exemplify this, all our lines are designed to avoid product contamination whether this be from microorganisms, foreign bodies, oils, or chemicals. Packaging must be risk-free!

Trust and traceability

Traceability is a fundamental aspect of food safety. We have a formal documented program covering all aspects of Product Safety, including risk management for biological, physical, and chemical hazards and contamination by allergens. The Product Safety Plan is maintained, developed, and continuously improved by Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), maintaining HACCP Plan (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), Product Traceability and ID, Crisis Management, and Regulatory Watch.

Product Safety Plan compliance is audited and risk-assessed with protocols including HACCP, GMP Audits, Quality System Audits, Supplier Audits, Customer Complaint Program, and Management System Review. Each plant has a Safety Champion. This Champion is an appointed Product Safety Coordinator who has received training and who ensures everything runs smoothly and in accordance with the Product Safety Plan.

When it comes to traceability, we cannot forget food fraud!

Capability to find the origin of raw materials and to trace them through the production process is necessary for transparency, sustainability, and efficiency. FSSC 22000 certification recognises our employment of a management system in order to trace and assess food fraud risks.

Always striving for improvement

We have valued safety as our highest priority ever since our company establishment. Without safety there is no quality, and without quality there is no business. We believe that everything starts with safety. We are continually finding new ways to help our customers to offer the most striking packaging on the market. This takes all aspects of design, functionality, and safety into account. We have been working with chemical specialists in order to develop and improve materials used in plastic bottle packaging, adapting them to the needs of specific consumers, such as premature babies and elderly people. We are proactive with our customers in order to meet their safety requirements. The development of phthalate-free materials for our customers is one of many examples.
